The Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Inc., located in Southeast Michigan, is a non-profit organization which strives to provide and promote a high level of musical knowledge for our students.  With that intention in mind, program selections for our concerts, recitals and other performances are chosen primarily from symphonic literature.  All performances by MYS are held in the Detroit Metropolitan area.
Our musicians are elementary, middle, junior high or high school students from private and public schools.  Admission to MYS is based on auditions held in the early spring of each year.  Metropolitan Youth Symphony offers opportunities for capable students in four orchestras:  Junior Strings, String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.  Conductors for all four orchestras are highly-qualified, professional musicians chosen for their expertise in working with young people.  Our program is designed to complement school music programs and to provide an additional challenging musical experience to interested, dedicated students.

Beginning its 28th season, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony will offer symphonic music in performance by almost 250 students from 45 metropolitan Detroit communities.  We are confident that the variety of our performances and the energy and virtuosity of our talented young musicians will merit your continuing patronage and support.
